CANDO works closely with its members and City of
Chicago agencies like the Departments of
Planning and Development, Environment,
Transportation, and the Office of Budget and
Management as well as the Illinois Department of
Commerce and Community Affairs and Illinois
Environmental Protection Agency to revitalize
Chicago's Industrial Corridors. Through a
series of technical seminars and direct
assistance, CANDO builds the organizational
capacity of the Local Industrial Retention
Initiative [LIRI] organizations that are
directly responsible for the City's business
outreach and calling program. Through our
Industrial Committee, CANDO advocates for
increasing investment in land assemblage,
infrastructure and Work-force Development.
Our Brownfield Initiative provides development
organizations with technical assistance,
training, and resources to redevelop sites in
their community.
Most recently, CANDO has formed the State Agenda
for Community Economic Development to provide a
voice in Springfield for community-based
economic development and job-training providers.
